MARIST PRIZE-GIVING 2014

Wednesday night St. Mary’s College hosted their annual prize giving ceremony, a night when the students are rewarded for their excellent achievements in various areas of school life. After a warm welcome by Principal Mr. Con McGinley, the opening address was by special guest speaker Professor Niall Moyna, a former Marist student, working in the school of Health and Human Performance and a member of the centre for preventative medicine in DCU, also known for his role on RTE’s Operation Transformation. Niall’s address was truly inspirational focusing on the importance of a healthy lifestyle, participation in sport and setting goals. He emphasized the importance of self belief, advising students not to let life pass you by-to aim high, humans are capable of far more than they realise – wise advice from someone who has met Neil Armstrong whose greatest achievement was to have landed on the moon!
