Survey

For this survey we got 90 students from 1st and 2nd year in our school. We discovered that 70 students have breakfast and the remaining 20 don't have breakfast at all. 53 students eat cereal, 34 students eat toast, 6 students have a fry and 2 students eat other sorts of food. Also, 5 students eat more than one type of food in the morning.

28 students don't eat any fruit, 34 students eat one piece daily, 15 students eat two pieces daily, 6 students eat three pieces daily and 7 students have more than three pieces daily. This shows us that only 7 students are eating the recommended daily intake of fruit.

When we asked about their favourite food, 41 students said chinese, 25 students said chips, 8 students said salad and 16 students said other. The majority went for the greasy option not the healthy option like salad.

A huge 83 students eat between meals. The favourite was sweets at 52 students, 38 students ate crisps, 35 students eat chocolate, 21 students have fruit and 13 students eat other food sorts. A huge 50 students eat more than one of the options.

You are meant to eat more than 4 servings of vegetables daily but are results show that only 5 students are doing so.

When asked how many biscuits, sweets and chocolate they eat per day the results were as follows: 10 students said one, 36 students said two, 14 said three and 29 said more than three.

Overall our survey showed that in general, the majority of young people today eat in excess of the recommended daily intake of sweets, chocolate etc and not enough of fruit and vegetables. This could lead to huge problems in obesity and heart- related diseases in later life.
